Poison Idea's The Early Years collects...i have no fucking clue. there is zero information in the cd booklet. no lyrics, no liner notes, nothing about who is in the band or what they do, nothing. there are some pics from live shows but i have no idea if any of them relate to this album. i think the first 14 tracks are studio tracks, 15 to 22 are definitely live tracks. i don't know if it's a full show or not though because the tracks aren't continuous and there isn't anything in the fucking booklet. 

as for the music i don't really have anything to say that i didn't already say in my post on Record Collectors Are Pretentious Assholes. it's rad, old school American hardcore. some tracks sound better than others but overall it's pretty decent. final verdict, terrible packaging but a cool record.

Poison Idea is a band i'd heard of here and there but never really bothered to check out for some reason. then when i was doing some research for my Venomous Concept post the name popped up again as one of the main influences on that band. since i really dug that album i figured it was time to check out Poison Idea.

they were a hardcore band from Portland that formed in the early 80s. this was their 2nd EP and 1st 12". this cd version has 4 extra tracks. the original 12" track list was:

also worth noting is the record collection in the cover photo belongs to PI's guitarist Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts.
as for the music it's old school hardcore. songs are short, fast and angry. definitely a rad album. i'll be listening to more by these guys soon.
