I'm not going to spend a lot of time talking about Odd Future seeing that oksentaminen is the main reason I have any idea who these dudes are. Quick summary is that they are a Rap Collective from LA. They are a fairly large group, are all young, and they only get better with age. Their earliest stuff has a lot of really good moments but for the most part was a work in progress. Their first mixtape was self-released for free download but now that they have been in the middle of our view for the last couple years and have an actual record label, they decided to make volume 2 an official CD release.
This ended up being a really strong compilation from all of the different members of Odd Future. Overall, I still think Tyler, The Creators production and rapping is the true highlight of this crew, but Hodgy Beats is getting better and growing on me. Frank Ocean is also super talented, I am always happy when his singing is included on a track. "White" was the only track Frank was solo on and its really a beautiful song. Some other quick highlights; I don't even remember noticing Mike G before but his track "Forest Green" is awesome. He has some of the best flow in the group in my opinion and I cannot talk down to Left Brains production. he's distinctly different from Tyler but hes also very good. I also need to point out that their new addition to their group, the band "The Internet" are an interesting change of pace from all of the other stuff coming from Odd Future.
The last thing I need to point out is that this CD closes with an awesomely epic full crew track. Its chill, entertaining, and it has EVERYONE! Despite what they were telling people, this track marks the return of Earl Sweatshirt to the group. I can't wait to hear what Earl does next. These dudes are growing up and are getting better all the time.(078)
