Ryan Lott or Son Lux is another Anticon artist and was involved on the EP by
s/s/s. I decided that I wanted to listen to the other people involved in that project. I'm glad I did and there are a couple Serengeti reviews coming up as well. He is an electronic artist who blends electronics with live instruments beautifully. His songs have a very orchestral feel despite being very electronic. Theres a lot of brass instruments and strings which is pretty sweet within booming electronic drum beats. Its almost hard to tell whats making the sounds when analog and digital is blended together so well. "We Are Rising" is a mopstly downtempo album. His singing is really good as well. I now understand better why he collaborated with Sufjan Stevens. Their voices are similar in some ways. These songs are slow, beautiful and interesting. The album never gets boring as he is constantly adding layers to a song and then changing it up with a more minimal approach on some songs
Apparently this album was made for NPR's all songs considered challenge. This album was made in a month and that fact makes it all the more impressive. There are a few guest musicians from bands like The Antlers. I enjoyed this album a lot and will definitely check out more of his stuff. (099)
